Getting a cosmetic procedure is quite like going to the doctors – everyone gets a little nervous. The most important part is right at the beginning: having an open and honest consultation with your cosmetic medicine professional.
To make things easier for you, we’ve put together our top 5 questions to ask before you commit to those new lips!
1) How many times have you done this procedure before?
This is a great way to gauge the level of experience that your provider has in the specific procedure you are enquiring about. They may have a wealth of experience in some areas but perhaps are lacking in others. It’s important that you feel comfortable with their level of expertise.
2) May I see examples of your past work?
Asking for images of past work is the perfect way to get a visual representation of what you will receive. For many, the idea you imagine may not be a realistic achievement. Asking for photos of the procedure you are enquiring about will give you the closest idea of their expertise.
Additionally, this not only gives you an idea of their level of skill but also provides a realistic example of what you should expect.
3) What outcome should I expect?
While photos can give you an idea of what others look like after a procedure, it is important to explicitly ask what outcomes you should expect. Weight, health, genes and other factors all play a role in what results are likely to occur. Your cosmetics medicine professional should be able to adequately take into account all these factors to give you an idea.
4) What are the side effects?
Of course, everyone reacts to certain procedures differently. However, your cosmetic medicine professional should be able to inform you of any common side effects, and their likelihood. This way, you have all the information and can make an informed decision.
5) What will my recovery be like?
Every procedure is different. Some, like Botox, have little to no downtime whereas others require longer rest periods. There may also be certain activities you cannot do straight after your procedure. As such, it is always best to factor in recovery process into your schedule. Holidays, special events, or work commitments will need to factored in when choosing the best timing.
